If you are considering buying a Champion or Champion Genesis Modular Home, I implore you to take a few minutes and read about our experience with a Jefferson II modular home built by Champion.  Please start with the post dated 3/30/2007, to get a glimpse of how poorly built the Champion product is when it leaves the factory.   You will be left wondering what kind of inspections occur in the Champion factory, if any.

Using the term “built” is being generous and is not really a very descriptive term, slapped together with a lick and a promise is a more apt description.  Even more appropriate would be the phrase from the Champion service team when they inspected the modular unit, “this is really a piece of "sh*t!"

Now, the question that’s begs an answer is, how can the number one modular home builder (in terms of numbers of units sold) produce such a bad product and continue to stay on top?  Many believe it is marketing and sales that covers a multitude of shoddy work and keeps them on top.

However in addition to marketing, growth for Champion has also come in the form of acquisition and merger of smaller modular home builders.  Soon after, Champion implements cost-cutting and production savings, in an ever increasing desire to increase the bottom line.  Champion executives must have taken to heart the statement by Michael Douglas in the 1987 movie Wall Street; “Greed is good.” Champion continues to fool the buyer into thinking they are getting a quality product, when in fact they are getting, to quote the Champion service team, "a piece of sh*t!"

Does bigger always mean better?  Certainly not in Champion’s case.  They pay little attention to detail during construction and cover mistakes with marketing.  They pay even less attention to customer needs after the sale and why should they, knowing that marketing and sales will keep the units rolling off the line, regardless of defective construction.

Good luck in your search, just be aware of what you will get if you purchase a modular home from Champion Genesis.

Dear Mike we built 15 homes all having electrical and plumbing problems, 4 having major structural defects and water damage. many having missing components, poor quality, and costing us approximately $20,000.00 per home it shared a big part in bankrupting my family. We filed a suit against them and kept very detailed records of there poor customer service and refusal to honor warrenties. I would love for you to put me in touch with all others whom have had problems with there product. There to big to fight alone.
