Certain comments deserve to have as much exposure as possible. So it is with the following comment from Gary Perry, in which he details what to expect when you buy a Champion Modular home.
Read it carefully, it just may save you from making the mistake of a lifetime and a never ending NIGHTMARE!
"Our Champion modular problems continue. Some of you have read my earlier posting about our Champion modular produced at the Lillington, NC plant. Since moving in we've discovered more examples of Champion's poor workmanship. The masterbath tub faucet doesn't work and you can't access it without taking the tile off the tub. The kitchen sink drain leaks. The utility room sink drain was not connected. The kitchen range hood light wouldn't work. When I checked behind it I found a hole in the wall where the outlet was supposed to be installed. Instead they just ran the wire to the outlet and left it in the hole in the wall not attached. We paid for an Incom system througout the house for TV, phone and computer connections. The satellite crew came and found that the entire system wouldn't work and had to drill holes in our floor and run their own cable for us to have TV. Likewise the system is useless for phone, etc.. Master bedroom closet light works intermittently. We had four can lights installed in the kitchen. I put bulbs in them and the can assembly turns when you try and screw the bulb in. You have to use one hand and hold the assembly while you screw the bulb in. The circuit breaker box was not labeled correctly. (Nice to find out before you do any electrical work!) Bathroom sink drain pipe was not properly aligned so they just bent the sink pipe at an angle to make it fit into the drain pipe. The dealer tells us it will be several weeks minimum before Champion can get out to begin making corrections. Most likely because they're covered up trying to fix their mistakes on other homes. If I were a buyer looking for modular homes I would drive by, no I would speed by, and not stop at any dealer advertising Champion Homes!!"

Sounds like our experience with Schult. Only we are getting forgotten when it comes to them fixing anything. Dealer is just as bad. We boutht from Kaw Valley in Topeka, KS. Should have had second thoughts when they were changing the name of the dealership. Our wiring is really bad and so was the plumbing. Although we had to pay within 5 days of house coming offline we are still waiting for finish work and some repairs and it will be 9 months since we ordered house as of tomorrow. We haven't moved in yet so don't know about cable and phone hook up, but if it is like rest of house we expect trouble. The day the house was delivered we found out the factory in KS was closing and our house reminds you that it was built after they found out about the closing. Reply to this
